Kellie Peterson Gudger

Kellie Peterson Gudger, a native of the midwest, has spent her legal career litigating in South Florida. Over the past sixteen (16) years, Kellie has been to trial on more than sixty (60) cases to verdict. She specializes in complex litigation, preparing and presenting expert witness testimony and winning “unwinnable” cases. Kellie is qualified as lead counsel on death penalty cases, defending individuals charged with first degree murder facing the death penalty. In May 2014, she was selected for the Rodney Thaxton “Against All Odds” Award by the Miami Chapter – Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL), a prestigious award given after her defense . Whether faced with the loss of property or the ultimate loss of liberty, Kellie has dedicated her career to defending the rights of those who cannot defend themselves.

Kellie grew up playing fast pitch softball, and received a full Division II athletic scholarship from South Dakota State University. in 1998, after just three (3) years, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice. At twenty (20) years old she began law school at Hamline University School of Law in her hometown of St. Paul, MN.

Kellie earned her Juris Doctorate, was admitted to the Florida Bar and began practicing in South Florida in 2001. She began as an assistant public defender in the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s office, where she gained extensive trial and motion practice experience, while making daily appearances in court. She went into private practice in 2004, working in both civil and criminal defense firms, and as a solo practitioner in State and Federal Court.

Kellie is currently utilizing her years of experience in the area of first party property insurance claims. She represents and is a zealous advocate for home owners, restoration and remediation companies and other vendors against insurance companies on property claims which have been underpaid or denied.

Kellie resides in Davie, Florida with her husband Eric and their five children, Trevor, Erika, Masen, Maddox and Marek.
